“Ungrading” Resources

“Ungrading” is a blanket term for a number of different approaches to assessment that aim to empower students’ learning. For our class we are using a model based on qualitative feedback and self-reflection and grades will be determined by each of you based on a conversation with me.

If you’re interested in learning more about this, one place to start is Jesse Stommel, a leading proponent of the movement.

A recent book on the subject is Ungrading: Why Rating Students Undermines Learning (and What to Do Instead) edited by Susan D. Blum.
